The Fun Husband

Christmas has finally come and gone and I am happy to report that the wife is happy with her gifts.  I didn’t go overboard, but I got her one big thing that I had planned for a while that she absolutely loves.  I also got her a couple of things that proved that I have been paying attention and something or two that will be fun. You guys should pay attention to my advice.  Maybe I should write a book on giving the wife gifts.  

The wife’s gifts could fall into the following categories.  You might want to get something in each.

Big Gift- You should always pick something she wants, not needs for her big gift.  That takes vacuum cleaners and washing machines out of the picture.  The devil is in the details on this gift.  If you buy her an iPhone, you should pre-load music, ring tones and applications on it before you give it to her.  Work very hard to make this gift a surprise.

Stuff she has mentioned – This proves that you are paying attention to her.  If she mentioned two months ago that she likes a specific song on the radio, you should get her that CD.  If she mentioned she likes a particular show, you should get the season on DVD. 

Gifts that keep giving – This could be something that she can do later.  Not necessarily a gift card to wal-mart, but maybe a gift card at the spa.  Something that she wouldn’t buy for herself, but can do later.  This could also be a nice bottle of wine.

Clothes – Never

Stuff for the House- Furniture and rugs etc are not great Christmas gifts. If your wife wants this for Christmas, be damn sure not to make it the only gift and make sure it is a gift to both of you, not just hers. You can always get something small for the house that she wants if you have spent in the other categories, as you should. 

Something she shouldn’t open in front of her family. – These are the naughty gifts. It may be some lingerie or some other adult products.
